LBCS Represents Sri Lanka in World Conference of Christian Publishing

Mr. Caleb Sri, head of the Lanka Bible College and Seminary (LBCS) Publishing Unit, attended the World Conference of Christian Publishing held in Kenya last November 1-6, 2009. He is the only Sri Lankan among the 16 Asian representatives. Mr. Sri was also given the opportunity to be at the panel discussion with four other representatives from other countries.

The workshops focused on creating a sustainable and productive team; copy editing for impact; how to establish writing course in a school setting; writing with a Christian worldview; and writing bible study guides. General sessions such as “Publishing: the Next Twenty Years” and “Pursuing Excellence in Publishing and Writing” by Davis Bunn were very useful for the publishing ministry in Sri Lanka.

Mr. John Maust, president of Media Associate International (MAI), was greatly impressed by the LBCS Publishing ministry. He wanted LBCS to host a Writers’ Consultation/Workshop in 2010.

LBCS has been continuously spearheading its vision in publishing and has worked with several authors in translating their books into the local languages.

LBCS aims at improving the standards of their training. Thus, faculty development is a priority. Rev. Lal Senanayake, LBCS Principal, is presently working on his Ph.D. at the Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois.
