The Great Commission Theological Seminary (STT Amanat Agung) in Jakarta, Indonesia held its 12th Dies Natalies and graduation ceremony on September 5, 2009. This year the seminary conferred degrees to five students (3 M.Div. and 2 B.Th.). The event was even special as the seminary conducted the inauguration of its new president, Andreas Himawan, D.Th. (candidate) who will serve for the period of 2009-2013.
Colombo Theological Seminary, Sri Lanka (CTS) celebrated its 7th biennial graduation service of Thanksgiving and Commissioning on July 25, 2009. In this event, a total of 36 students were awarded the ATA-accredited Bachelor of Theology or a Diploma in Theology. In addition, nine others received the Certificate in Christian Studies. The Chief Guest was Dr. Robert Solomon, the Bishop of the Methodist Church in Singapore.
Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary (JETS) has reduced their academic curriculum to six in keeping with the accreditation requirements. Their current programs are Certificate of Biblical Studies (1 year), Master of Arts in Biblical Studies (2 years), Diploma in Biblical Studies (2 years), Bachelor of Theology (4 years), Master of Divinity (3 years) and Master of Theology (4 years).
LBCS Represents Sri Lanka in World Conference of Christian Publishing
Mr. Caleb Sri, head of the Lanka Bible College and Seminary (LBCS) Publishing Unit, attended the World Conference of Christian Publishing held in Kenya last November 1-6, 2009. He is the only Sri Lankan among the 16 Asian representatives. Mr. Sri was also given the opportunity to be at the panel discussion with four other representatives from other countries.
The workshops focused on creating a sustainable and productive team; copy editing for impact; how to establish writing course in a school setting; writing with a Christian worldview; and writing bible study guides.
